Bet you didn't see that one coming.
Before filming, production asked which expert categories I'd want to defend. My first thoughts were exactly what you'd guess: Nerf, pinball, Ninja Turtles. Then I asked my kids to help me choose, and my daughter Cora answered straight away. Build-A-Bear. Her favorite.
Her reasoning was pretty innocent:
“Dad, if you pick Nerf that's not fair, because you're the Nerf champion and nobody will be able to beat you.”

I didn't want to explain how the show works, so I said “we will see” and left it there. You have to submit a few choices, but since she'd asked, I made sure Build-A-Bear was one of them. And of course, that's the one I got.
The rest of the floor thinks I'm colorful, cute and cuddly. Whoever challenges me is about to find out how sharp I really am.

Every contestant this season already won something. There are winners from The Voice, The Amazing Race, Big Brother, Lego Masters, Face Off and Jeopardy, sitting alongside a taxidermy champion, a barbecue world champion, a mushroom champion and someone who is the best in the world at writing essays. I got in the door on the back of the Nerf Ultra Championship I won in 2019. The category I'm defending is Build-A-Bear, and you can read above how my daughter picked it.
The whole thing is played on a grid, where you own a square, challenge whoever is next to you, and the winner walks away with the loser's territory. Season 6 adds a twist called the Power Shot, which turns one contestant into the thing that decides who plays next.
That board is right here, and it updates after every episode. Each colour is one player's territory, so as people get knocked out you can watch the shapes grow.
